What is changing
The biggest set of changes to renting in a generation is on the way. The ones that matter most:
- The Renters' Rights Act
- The end of Section 21 'no-fault' evictions, and new rules for how tenancies start and end.
- Energy efficiency (EPC)
- The minimum energy rating your property will need, and the date you will need it by.
- The Decent Homes Standard
- The condition every privately rented home will have to meet.
- Awaab's Law
- Strict deadlines to put right damp, mould, and other health hazards.
